my thoughts .....!

China is better! - Quality

Two comments

Yesterday I attended a PMP session in Dubai by CHICAGO Management Training Institute. The topic is on quality management. The trainer informed us few, and my perceptions on them as follow

Trainer Talks:
• Japan is an excellent example of what quality is.
• For example Sony, Toyota products were defective on the early phase of production but the local customers gave a premium price for it, in-turn to improve the quality being patriotic.
• What is Patriotism mean? - Support to his/her own country / race ! No Emotions involved.
• EOQ – He talked about how Europe's Economic Order Quantity failed!
• China's quality is poor!

I thought I will add one more point to it,

-- » According to me, china's quality is not poor, their quality are even comparable with Japan. They produce according to the customer needs. For UAE they deliver excellent goods (expensive, quality) because here customer are ready to buy good made-in-china products.

This is "pay for quality as needed" and they adhere to the specifications. What ever quality systems they follow – No Storage Cost or EOQ or X, they are winning.

Its time to learn from them too! Have you visited China? I Want to!

In the mean time note, for all nationals, do support your country if you wanna do what Japan did ! India too will come up with its own management & quality control styles.

  1. Making products as per customer specifications and making poor Quality products are two mutually exclusive events. No one asks for a sub-standard product.

Customers will always want products at a cheaper price but that does not mean the producer can follow a sub-standard process to deliver the same. There are multiple other ways to deliver the same expectation that a customer has without compromising Quality and meeting customer requirements.

What companies or countries do is mere justification of their poor Quality by blaming customer requirements.
