Land Calculation

South India - Tamil - Agriculture Land Calculation....?

I was trying to buy some land in my home town,  When i asked about the area - those guys started talking about 1 ground, 4 kuli etc., instead of acre (A unit of area 4840 square yards) or hectare (10,000 square meters)

I came to understand their calculation goes as below...

1 Ground Consists of 5 (5 and half) Cent
1 Cent Consists of 3 Kuli
1 Kuli is 144 Square Foot/Feet

Approximately

1 Ground means 2400 Square Foot/Feet
1 Cent means 432  Square Foot/Feet

And with this i end up my understanding.
